Kings are the second largest penguin and can reach up to 38 pounds. They have bright orange spoon-shaped ear patches. The chicks are brown and very fluffy. We saw an amazing colony of king penguins in Cooper Bay and again at Gold Harbour in South Georgia. A few days later at St. Andrews Bay, we visited another large colony in a freak summer snowstorm. Kings do not swim like porpoises, they look more like ducks!
